Each week, the UWC spotlights one PLF who has gone above and beyond to help the UWC run as smoothly as possible and to do the best work they can to help students become better writers. Their positive contribution ensures that the UWC continues to be a great resource on our campus.

Mason Hardy
Our PLF of the Week for Week 3 is Mason Hardy! Mason has been an outstanding PLF this week by helping us read applications for prospective PLFs and start the interview process. We really appreciate his assistance and input as we hire our next cohort of new PLFs. Thank you for all the help, Mason!

Emily Olds
Our PLF of the Week for Week 2 is Emily Olds! Emily has been an outstanding help this week by helping the UWC plan a workshop for pre-health students writing personal statements. She always brings a kind and patient spirit to her work and we appreciate having her on staff!

Matt Jiang
Our PLF of the Week for Week 10 is Matt Jiang! Matt consistently brings positive energy into his sessions and into the UWC. Chandler Webster
Our PLF of the Week for Week 9 is Chandler Webster! Chandler brings a positive and calming attitude to every session. She expertly balances patience and efficient time management, which ensures that students gain as much as possible from their appointments without feeling any added stress. Ava Montali
Our PLF of the Week for Week 8 is Ava Montali! Ava has helped ensure that the UWC runs smoothly by responding promptly to messages and volunteering to cover shifts for PLFs when needed. She is also very patient and welcoming toward students in her sessions, which is essential to ensuring they get as much out of the appointment as possible. We appreciate your wonderful work!

Caroline Cummings
Our PLF of the Week for Week 7 is Caroline Cummings! Caroline is always very responsive and punctual, which is especially helpful during our ongoing remote operation. She also provides support for other PLFs by agreeing to substitute for them when needed. She is very attentive in her sessions and encouraging to students, and both the students and the UWC appreciate her great work!

Rachel Jackson
Our PLF of the Week for Week 6 is Rachel Jackson! Rachel has demonstrated great dedication to her work as a PLF by being able to learn quickly and adapt to the needs of her sessions. She is also very personable, which helps students feel at ease and open to feedback while working with Rachel. Keep up the wonderful work!

Lola Jamin
Our PLF of the Week this week is Lola! Lola was a very active participant in our training on the emotional aspects of tutoring and supporting students’ academic development. Her contributions helped to facilitate the conversation and encourage the development of our UWC community. We are so lucky to have a kind and welcoming PLF like Lola!

Ira Phatak
Our PLF of the Week this week is Ira! Ira has been very helpful with ensuring that the UWC continues to run smoothly during this quarter of fully remote operation. She is very communicative and responsive to our UWC receptionists, which is essential to starting appointments on time with minimal technical difficulty. We are so grateful to have her on our staff!

Ryan Lee
This week’s PLF of the Week is Ryan Lee! Ryan has been incredibly helpful to ensuring the smooth operation of the UWC by filling in as a substitute for many PLFs throughout the early weeks of this hectic quarter. Ryan is also a great role model and resource for new PLFs and allowed many to shadow his sessions last quarter to assist in their training. We are so lucky to have him on our staff at the UWC!

Vinny Parthasarathy
Vinny has gone above and beyond as a PLF by helping to lead workshops on behalf of the UWC and being an ongoing resource for students in the McNair Scholars program. This week he helped lead a workshop on E-Portfolios to help students build their self-marketing skills. He always brings great positivity and professionalism to his work. We are so grateful to have him on our staff!

Ani Ramirez
Ani has been an outstanding help to the UWC staff by filling in as a substitute for many PLFs when the quarter gets hectic. Her flexibility and generosity always keeps the UWC running smoothly, and she maintains great professionalism and patience throughout her sessions. We are so lucky to have her at the UWC!

Max Kieling
Max has been an incredibly helpful returning PLF by allowing many new PLFs to shadow his sessions. New PLFs learn so much by watching an experienced PLF navigate an appointment, so we are very grateful that Max is supporting the UWC in this way.

Mari Jrbashyan
Mari has been doing an outstanding job of combining directive and non-directive strategies in her sessions. She is able to effectively tailor each session to the needs of the specific student and their assignment. Mari clearly demonstrates that she cares about the student’s improvement and she makes sure they have the support they need to succeed. We are lucky to have her at the UWC!

Lena has been going above and beyond to help students not only on the assignments they bring into the UWC, but on improving their overall writing skills. Lena is always willing to help out in a time crunch and demonstrates how much she cares about students understanding key writing principles. We are lucky to have her on our staff!

Rhiannon has been an incredible addition to our staff since she joined us this past summer. She has not only brought a balanced and helpful attitude to her sessions, but is highly punctual and enthusiastic in completing her training requirements. We are lucky to have her at the UWC!
