Dominiqua Dickey holds a BA in Theater from UCLA and an MFA in Creative Writing from The University of Mississippi. Before returning to UCLA, she taught literature, fiction, and first-year composition courses at Ole Miss. In 2018, she joined Writing Programs, where she currently teaches Writing 1 courses (EC1, EC3 & EC3D). She also has taught composition in the Academic Advancement Program’s Freshman Summer Program at UCLA. Her teaching and research interests include film, history, popular culture, and current events as well as active discourse and critical analysis. Other areas of focus include identity, social media, and race as a social construct. Her previous publications include contributions to Mississippi Noir and Detecting the South in Fiction, Film, and Television.
